There is a reason we built an HRIS platform that started with a full-on strategic planning module.  Our core belief is that HR is or should be strategic and a critical partner in value creation for organizations.  So we needed to build a platform to support that understanding.


We see a lot of HR platforms out there that were designed by IT folks with HR "best practice" processes.  Later on they may have added a bit of flexibility as their customers complained.  Essentially they don't get it; while HR is a science, it's also an art.  Key concepts and practices can carry from one company to another, but each company has their own needs and processes. So we built a platform to enable any process or process variant you need. 


As for HR platforms built as extensions of payroll systems.  Don't get me started...
